A look at our week...

This week has been EXTREMELY busy at the Hamann household! Parker had VBS each night from 6:30-8:30 (which was really from 6 to 9 every night! :))... and I also volunteered at VBS 3 of the nights! (more pics from VBS to come!) Provider Night Out was this week on Wednesday (which is where I get to hang out with other providers and share stories/network/etc.)... we were out until after 11pm... it was so fun!!! :) Nick got some quality time with Owen... which was GREAT since Owen is such a "Daddy's Boy"!!! :) They ran errands, played, did yard work, went for walks, etc. Owen was in "DADDY HEAVEN" - those of you who know Owen well KNOW how much he LOVES his DADDY! :) Infact... today we had to call him at noon b/c Owen was having a MELTDOWN missing his daddy!!! It is a daily thing now... Owen HAS to talk to his daddy EVERYDAY on the phone!!!! Poor Nick - the conversation goes a little something like this...

Nick: "Hi Owen, how's Daddy's little boy?"
Owen: "DADA!"
Nick: "Hi buddy!"
Owen: (LONG SILENCE... he is listening to daddy.) :)
Nick: "Hey Owen"
Owen: "DADA!"
Nick: "Hi buddy!"
Owen: "DADA!"
Nick: "Owen"
Owen: (LONG SILENCE... he is listening to daddy.) :)
Nick: "Owen"
Owen: "DADA"

... and it goes ON and ON... thankfully Nick has lots of drive time on the road and can devote some time to "talking to Owen"... hehe! It is pretty precious that he LOVES his daddy so much!

Anyways... here is a recap of our week! It was a GREAT week - even with the busy schedules!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

This week is Vacation Bible School (VBS) at our church and Parker is having the time of his life!!! This is the first year he has gotten to go (you have to be 4) and we invited 3 friends to come along with us (Corbin, Cooper and Lilly). They are all in the same class, so it has been fun for them all! Here are a couple of SILLY photos of the kids (Cooper, Lilly and Parker - Corbin wasn't there yet) tonight~! I will hopefully have more photos as the week goes on!

4th of July

What a BUSY weekend!!! We are SOOOOO exhausted from all of the activites!!! We started the celebration on Thursday night (the 3rd) by heading over to the West Des Moines parade with Alicia and Brenton! The parade started at 6:30 and Nick didn't get home from work until after 5:30... so it was a rush to get there!! The parade was GREAT (as usual) and the kids had a BLAST! Owen was soooo good! :) He was in ahhh with the entire event!!! He was so excited and then... the TRACTORS came!!! :) hehe... he could hardly stand it... it was PRECIOUS!!! Parker did GREAT going after all of the candy... for ALL of us!! :) It was VERY fun! ... and our friend Corbin (from daycare) and his daddy Brian were FAMOUS - they were riding on the WDM firetruck (see the photo below)!!! It's always more fun when you know someone in the parade!!! :)

After the WDM parade we went over to Altoona to eat supper at Monterey's (YUMMY!) - the Margarita's were too strong for me... but everything else was GREAT!! :) After dinner we went over to Prairie Meadows for their FIREWORKS... they started at 10 and were VERY good!!! After the fireworks (I know... most people would have stopped here and went home to bed - but NOT US!!! ) we decided to head over to a friend from highschool - Andy Phillips' house for a quick visit... the boys fell asleep on the way and we ended up visiting with Andy and Nikki until after midnight!!! aghhh... we were all exhausted on the way home!!! After we took Alicia and Brenton home we had to run our card table over to Laci's... and Nick and I ended up talking with them for quite awhile too... needless to say after getting the kids to bed when we got home it was almost 2am before Nick and I got to bed.... aghhhhhh.........can you say EXHAUSTED!!!

Friday the 4th...

We got up and ready in the morning to head over to the Urbandale parade... it is always a HUGE parade and we tend to collect LOTS of CANDY!!! :) We met Alicia and Brenton there and also met up with the Ladwig's and all sat together... THANK YOU Ross and Christi for letting us SQUEEZE in!! :) ... it was lots of fun!!! It lasted over an hour and a half... and we got to sit in the shade this year.... YEAH!!! :)

After the parade we went home for some lunch and swimming in our pool. Owen actually is a little scared of the water... which I am thankful for!!! For any of you who have seen Owen in action you would agree this is a VERY GOOD THING! :) Parker had a BLAST though swimming, floating and splashing us!!! I decided I would lay out a bit and got a 45 minute nap in out in the sun... this is a DREAM COME TRUE for me... I need to do this more often! :)

That evening we went over to our friends Brad and Nicole's house for a grill out... it was LOTS of fun... Brad is quite the host! :) The kids had fun playing together and we had good adult time! Nick got to show off his grilling skills... they let him grill and he did a GREAT job! The food was awesome!! Afterwards it was time to head over to the park for the "blow-up" toys and "playtime" with our friends and our cousins (the Ladwigs). Again we had a good time and then we all gathered with our lawn chairs to watch the fireworks together... Alicia & Brenton came, Brad & Nicole with their 2 kids, Olivia & Mike with their 2 kids and Ross & Christi with their 4 kids. We also saw our friends Brian & Lori and their 2 kids... and also Laci & Justin and their 4 kids... Sorry we didn't get to see the Swygman's... hope you enjoyed the fireworks! WOW... lots of people!! It was really a good time ~ the fireworks were a little slow, but they were still good!!!

After the fireworks back to Brad and Nicole's we went... and again another LATE night! We had so much fun - Brad let off fireworks and they were HUGE and LOUD... I think they were just as big as the Waukee fireworks!!! It was hilarious!!! THANK YOU for the GREAT night!!!

Today (Saturday) was a LAZY day for us... then tonight we went over to Ross and Christi's for more fireworks and smores... we had a GREAT time... THANK YOU!!! :)

A Little Bit of EVERYTHING...

Our week has been busy... lots of fun stuff at home, Parker's last T-ball game, and 2 "Girls Nights Out" too!!! :)

The first part of our week was spent with our daycare friends... Corbin's actual birthday was Tuesday and we celebrated with making cupcakes (everyone got to help!) and frosting them and then eating them at afternoon snack! We all sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY and took turns re-lighting and blowing out the candle... over and over again!! :) It was precious!!

Then... for those of you who aren't aware of this... Parker has dressed himself for a LONG time and I believe it was Wednesday morning he came down in this....













If you can't tell... these are PJ's! BOXER BRIEFS with a tank top!! hehe! He seriously had FULL intention of wearing this that day... until I told him that it was fine but he wouldn't be able to play outside in his pajamas and he ran right up to change!!! (THANKFULLY)!!! :)

Then... on Thursday I got to see SEX IN THE CITY!!!!! It was FABULOUS!!!! :) Ruth, Laci and I went to the movie and then Laci and I decided to go out for a little bit afterwards! What a GREAT night!!! THANK YOU ladies!!!! - - - and Ruth... I am SOO GLAD you came out with us!!!

I forgot to take a picture earlier in the evening, so there is just one of Laci and I! And... yes it is a self image, so not the best!!! And please lets not comment on how WHITE I am!! :)

Then on Friday Laci and I went to my friend Nia's house for an UpperCase Living party and had a GREAT time. There were Martini's and chicken or steak kabobs that we grilled ourself and fruit salad! :) YUMMY!! I had such a great time, Nia!!! THANK YOU!!!


And lastly.... Saturday (today) was Parker's last T-ball game! He did GREAT today and we were VERY proud of him! He was not real excited about going... but after the game was SOOOO GLAD he did!!! He got a MEDAL! :) He was soooo EXCITED! After the game Owen wanted to run over to the dugout to give his big brother a hug... it was precious! Here are a few photos!

A FUN-FILLED Weekend!

We started out our Saturday with Parker's t-ball game at 9am!!! It was a great game (both teams always win!! :)) Parker was still shy as usual but MUCH more involved this time!!

Nina and Papa Hamann were there and so were Alicia and Brenton!!! I think Parker was proud to have such a great support system this week!!! :)

Another trip to the ZOO...
After the ball game we headed to the zoo again!!! This time we went with Nina and Papa Hamann, Dan & Kim and the girls Caroline and Grace and Alicia and Brenton! It was a GREAT time!!!! CORBIN'S Birthday Party...
After we got home from the zoo and the kids got their naps in... we headed over to Corbin's 4th BIRTHDAY party! Corbin is one of my daycare kids and Parker's friend (well Owen LOVES him too!!!) It was a GREAT party!! He had a SPIDERMAN theme and Amy had the house all decorated with spiderwebs and spiders... soooo cute!!! The kids played a spiderman game, took turns hitting the pinata and got pizza and cake! It was lots of fun!


JEFF'S birthday party...
Our neighbors had a party Saturday night too... after Corbin's birthday we headed over to the neighbors to celebrate Jeff's birthday! We had GREAT food, good laughs and MARGARITAS!!! It was lots of fun too... THANK YOU for the invitation!! - and don't worry, Jake... we will still have you babysit!! :) hehe!
